Every time I walk in this shop that makes chocolates, I like it more and more.
On a scorching early October day, I was at Sweetie Pies for a piece of their cabernet grape pie. I wandered into Vintage Sweets next door to see what was there.
There is a case full of chocolates that are made at the shop, a separate case with pans of just made fudge in a dozen flavors, a little hot dog machine in the corner, a frozen yogurt machine, a shave ice machine and all sorts of gifts and candies.
I forgot what type of hot dog they use, but it is a good brand.
It struck me as touristy, but the staff was just so nice and the fact that they made their own chocolates ... well, I bought some chocolate bark and truffles.
Did I mention scorching hot day? By time I got home, the bark was very soft and the truffles lost their shape. I put them in the fridge to make them less ... liquid.
I was thinking that the truffle was a lot better than Annette's, but given the abuse the chocolate took, I thought I'd wait to report until visiting again.
Yesterday I bought a summer cabernet truffle from Annette's ($1.75) and cabernet truffle from Vintage ($1.95).
